Anne Harris has almost 30 years of experience navigating clients through the maze of both litigation and non-litigation matters, with her experience crossing a broad spectrum of matters. Anne’s practice began as a workers’ compensation attorney, representing clients with disabling injuries. Her practice has taken her through various levels of litigation and through the appellate courts of North Carolina.
As she experienced first-hand the difficulties that an aging parent can encounter, her focus began to include advocacy for the aging. Ms. Harris completed a two year program through Stetson University to achieve a Master of Laws degree (L.L.M.) in Elder Law. The broad spectrum of that program provided an immersion program in all things elder law related, including guardianship and the alternatives, veterans’ benefits, long term care planning, retirement planning, federal estate and gift taxation, aging and the law, ethics, and many other topics that are vital to an understanding of how the law works, or doesn’t, for us as we inevitably age.
Ms. Harris joined Law Firm Carolinas in 2020 to focus on estate planning and estate administration. Her goal is to assist clients who want to plan for their financial and medical future. Ms. Harris prepares documents that will allow clients to maintain their autonomy in the event of disability or limited capacity, and also to have their estates distributed the way they would like after their passing.
Ms. Harris has been mediator certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission since 2000, and is certified to conduct mediations in matters before the Clerk of Court (guardianship matters, etc.) as well as before the North Carolina Industrial Commission.
Outside the office, Ms. Harris enjoys traveling, hiking, spending time with family, gardening.
