Jim Slaughter – Who’s Going to Fix My Property? HOA/Condo Maintenance, Repair & Casualty (Including Major Weather Events)
Who’s responsible for fixing your single family home, townhome or condo? And who’s going to pay for it? How does insurance fit in? Explore these questions and more. This topic is especially relevant in the wake of Hurricane Florence.
David Wilson (and agent Dawn Becker-Durnin) – Understanding D&O and Cyber Liability Insurance
“Oh no, the money is all gone—now what do we do?” Hopefully, your community has never had to deal with this situation. From protection against the latest cyber-crimes to good old-fashioned litigation, the right insurance policy can be a life saver for your HOA or condo. This program helps boards and managers better understand what their Directors and Officers (“D&O”) policy covers, what cyber insurance is, what protections the law provides for volunteer boards, and things to consider with different policies. Come learn from the good and bad experiences of others and be more confident that your community has protection for what may come next.
Michael Taliercio & Adam Marshall – Collection Minefields
Common difficulties in collection cases, including
(1) Avoiding issues prior to turning an owner over to the attorney for collections
(2) Collecting Fines: Are the fines enforceable? Was the proper process followed?
(3) Disputed debts and contested foreclosure hearings
