NC-CAI Chapter June 2016 Update

Since my last update, the North Carolina CAI Chapter has realized some great achievements!

Annual Conference & Expo

The 2016 Annual Conference in Greensboro was a huge success! There were more than 225 attendees representing 32 management companies and 5 communities. That’s one of our largest attendance figures ever, and certainly a record for the Triad! Sixty exhibit booths were sold. And a little more than a quarter of this year’s attendees were first-time attendees, which speaks well for the future.

Evaluations by conference participants also provided other valuable information. 89% of attendees rated the overall Annual Conference experience as “excellent” or “very good.” Educational programs were also highly rated, with 87% of respondents rating the sessions as “excellent” or “very good.” More than 80% of this year’s attendees say they plan to attend the 2017 Annual Conference. Go ahead and mark your calendar—next year’s Annual Conference will be held July 20–21, 2017 (a new time of year!) at the Crabtree Marriott in Raleigh.

Many thanks to those who made the Annual Conference a success, with a special nod to Steering Committee Chair Melissa Merritt-Darden.

National Awards

Other exciting news involves National CAI awards, which were presented the first week of May at the National CAI conference in Orlando. NC-CAI received two Chapter Achievement and Excellence Awards—another record for our Chapter! The first award was in the Chapter Management and Development category, recognizing the Chapter’s work this past year developing and implementing financial and operational models to support the Chapter’s current activities and provide a foundation for future growth. The second award was in the Membership category and recognizes the Chapter’s work toward reconfiguring our membership database.

Ours was the only chapter in the “very large” classification to bring home two awards. While many members were involved in these endeavors, I especially want to thank Leslie Blum, our Chapter Executive Director, and the 2015 and 2016 NC-CAI Boards of Directors for all their vision and hard work.

Calendar of Events

There are many statewide and regional programs scheduled for the rest of the year. A calendar of Chapter events can be found on the right side of our Chapter home page at www.cai-nc.org.

If you want to discuss any Chapter issue, call or e-mail me through www.lawfirmcarolinas.com.

Congratulations to everyone that has contributed to our Chapter’s many successes!
