Carole Albright Recognized as Leader in the Law

Carole Albright, Managing Partner of Law Firm Carolinas, has been recognized by NC Lawyers Weekly as a 2024 Leaders in the Law Honoree. The award recognizes legal professionals who have gone above and beyond in their profession through contributions to the practice of law as well as service to the broader community.


Jim Slaughter Recognized for 2023 Pro Bono Service

Attorney Jim Slaughter was recently recognized by the Greensboro Bar Association for his pro bono work by being named to the Herb Falk Society. The Herb Falk Society honors Bar members who have performed 75 hours or more of pro bono service hours during the year, which includes free or reduced legal services to clients and activities to improve the legal profession. Jim has received the recognition each year since the Society was created. 


Jim Slaughter Receives Lifetime Contribution Award for Association Work

Partner Jim Slaughter received the Don Buck Lifetime Contribution Award at the recent 2024 Community Association Law Seminar in Las Vegas. The award recognizes attorneys who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the community association industry. Jim is a past national President of CAI's College of Community Association Lawyers as well as the North Carolina Chapter of the Community Associations Institute. He has written four books on association meeting procedure, including the recent Robert’s Rules of Order Fast Track.


Business NC Recognizes Law Firm Carolinas Attorneys in "Legal Elite"

Two attorneys at Law Firm Carolinas have been named to the week’s Business North Carolina Legal Elite for 2024. Carole Albright, who is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, has been recognized in the practice of Family Law. Attorney Jon Raymer has been recognized in the practice of Real Estate.

Best Lawyers Recognizes Five Law Firm Carolinas Attorneys

Five attorneys at Law Firm Carolinas have been named to the 2024 Edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Carole Albright, who is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, has been recognized in the practice of Family Law. Keith Black, who is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, has been recognized in the practices of Family Law and Family Law Mediation. Steve Black, who is a Board Certified Specialist in Residential Real Estate, has been recognized in the practice of Real Estate Law and Community Association (HOA and condo) Law. Jim Slaughter has been recognized in the practices of Real Estate Law, Construction Law, and Community Association Law. Carole Albright Named to American College of Parliamentary Lawyers

Partner Carole Albright, who is a credentialed parliamentarian in addition to being an attorney, has been inducted into the American College of Parliamentary Lawyers. The purpose of the College is to acknowledge attorneys who have distinguished themselves through contributions to the practice of parliamentary law and who have committed themselves to high standards of professional and ethical conduct. As a attorney/parliamentarian, Albright advises corporations, unions, homeowner and condominium associations, religious institutions, and nonprofit associations on the use of parliamentary procedure and running better meetings.


David Wilson Named to "SC Leaders in the Law"

Partner David Wilson has been named a 2023 "SC Leader in the Law" by Lawyers Weekly. The recognition honors legal professionals licensed and practicing in South Carolina who have achieved success in their law practice, made contributions to society, and had an impact on the legal profession. 


Marshall Appointed to ABC Board

Law Firm Carolinas' Partner Adam Marshall has been appointed to the Greensboro ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) Board. The appointment was made by the Greensboro City Council at its May meeting. Marshall has previously served on the Human Relations Commission, Greensboro Criminal Justice Advisory Commission, Board of Adjustment, and is past Chair of the Greensboro Zoning Commission. 


Meister & Slaughter Named to Pro Bono Honor Society

Law Firm Carolinas' Partners Emily Meister and Jim Slaughter have been named to the 2022 NC Pro Bono Honor Society list. The Pro Bono Honor Society recognizes attorneys who have contributed 50 hours or more of pro bono service in 2022. Pro bono work includes providing legal services with no (or reduced) fees to those of limited means or committee work or other participation in activities improving the law, legal system or profession.

           


Publisher's Weekly Selects Books as "Editor's Picks"

Partner Jim Slaughter's two recent books, Robert’s Rules of Order Fast Track and Notes and Comments on Robert’s Rules, Fifth Edition have been selected by Publisher’s Weekly as “Editor’s Picks,” which is a “book of outstanding quality.” The reviews can be found at Reviews are in for New Parliamentary Procedure Books! Both books are available at traditional and online bookstores, including Amazon, as well as electronically for Kindle. 

         


Wilson Elected Chair of SC Legislative Action Committee

Law Firm Carolinas Partner David Wilson has been elected Chair of the South Carolina Legislative Action Committee (SC LAC). The SC LAC is a committee of the Community Associations Institute that monitors and influences legislation that impacts community associations, and its members talk with legislators on issues of concern to HOAs and condos.

Attorney Adam Marshal has been named a partner at Law Firm Carolinas, which has six offices throughout North and South Carolina. His practice includes community association (HOA and condo) law as well as land use, zoning and planning issues before the Board of Adjustment and Zoning Commission.

Jim Slaughter Leads State Community Associations Institute

Jim Slaughter, a partner in the law firm of Black, Slaughter & Black, has been elected President of the North Carolina Chapter of the Community Associations Institute.

James Slaughter Attorney  CAI provides resources, education, credentialing and advocacy for homeowner and condominium associations and the professionals who support them. The NC-CAI Chapter is composed of association board members and other homeowner leaders, community managers, association management firms and other professionals who provide products and services to associations.  North Carolina is now the fifth largest state in number of community associations with almost 14,000 associations and more than 2 million residents.  For more information, visit http://www.cai-nc.org
